About Law Office of John K. Deaton The firm was started in 2001, shortly after John was licensed to practice law in North Carolina. Starting out in a rented house turned office near Montgomery Memorial Hospital, Law Office of John K. Deaton moved to North Main Street in 2003 after the purchase and extensive remodel of the old Sandhills Trophy and Sports building located next to H & R Block. Law Office of John K. Deaton is comprised of one attorney and one paralegal. Rather than specialize in any one or couple of particular areas of law, John has worked hard to obtain and maintain a broad knowledge of most areas of law needed at some time or another by individuals, families and small businesses. From simple traffic violations to more complex criminal matters, divorce and other domestic relations matters, real estate and estate planning, and small business advice and counseling, Law Office of John K. Deaton strives to be the general practice to assist with all your legal needs. And most importantly, our firm recognizes our limitations as to certain more specialized areas of law such as bankruptcy, medical malpractice and employment law, and is always available to answer general questions about these areas of law and ready with a referral or source for referrals to specialized attorneys who are able to provide competent representation in the areas of law not covered by Law Office of John K. Deaton. The firm never charges for initial consultations so that potential clients do not have to forego needed legal advice because of any reservations about speaking with an attorney or the cost of getting sound advice.

Law Office of John K. Deaton is made up of John K. Deaton as the sole attorney with the firm. John is joined in the firm by Kathy Williams, a North Carolina Board Certified Paralegal, who is the office manager, and primarily handles real estate and all civil court issues (i.e. Family Law, Civil Litigation). In addition to her primary responsibilities, Mrs. Williams is also knowledgeable and assists in all other of the firm's practice areas.
