John grew up in Montgomery County, NC where he currently lives with his wife, Stephanie and their three year old daughter.
John earned his B.A. degree in Political Science with concentrations in Criminal Law and Legal Philosophy from North Carolina State University in 1995. After taking a year off to work with disadvantaged youth, John was accepted at the University of Baltimore School of Law in Baltimore, Maryland and completed his first year of law school there in 1997. John then transferred back home to North Carolina where he earned his Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law, graduating summa cum laude in 1999.
Law Office of John K. Deaton was started in 2001 in Troy where John focuses on a general practice of law, assisting clients with practically all their legal needs.
John is active in the community, having previously served on the Board of Directors of Regional Consolidated Services in Asheboro, and currently serving on the Montgomery County Board of Health and advisory board for the Biscoe branch of CommunityOne Bank. John is also an active member of the Star Volunteer Fire Department.

Kathy Williams

Kathy is a native of Montgomery County and a graduate of West Montgomery High School and Montgomery Community College, where she earned her Associate's Degree in Accounting.
At Law Office of John K. Deaton, she is the office manager and holds her Paralegal Certification from the North Carolina State Board of Paralegal Certification. Kathy's main areas of concentration, on top of her duties as office manager, include Real Estate, Family Law, Estate Administration and General Civil Practice, although she also is knowledgeable about the other practice areas at the firm and contributes substantially to them as well
